Stories of resilience, hope, and life’s unexpected detours.
I’m Alyssa — wife, mom, dentist, writer, and advocate.
When our twins arrived far too early, life shifted in ways I never could have planned. Through the uncertainty of the NICU, special needs parenting, and the years that followed, I discovered that hope and heartache can exist side by side — and that even in life’s hardest seasons, there can still be beauty ahead.
What began as the rare experience of interval twins became something much bigger: a desire to help other moms feel seen, understood, and less alone in the challenges of motherhood.
My Story
At 23 weeks pregnant, I unexpectedly delivered one of my twins. Seventeen days later, I delivered the second.
What followed was months in the NICU, years of uncertainty, and a completely different vision of motherhood than the one I had imagined.
I created Interval Twins as a way to share our story honestly — not just the medical journey, but the emotional reality of navigating fear, guilt, resilience, hope, and life in the unknown.
The Interval
The Interval is my upcoming memoir about extreme prematurity, motherhood, resilience, and the long stretch of uncertainty that exists between crisis and healing.
More than a medical story, it’s a deeply personal reflection on survival, identity, guilt, hope, and learning to live in the unknown.
Currently in progress.
You’re Not Alone
While our story began with interval twins, the heart behind this space is much broader.
I created Interval Twins to support moms navigating the uncertainty, grief, guilt, resilience, and unexpected realities that can come with motherhood — especially those walking through NICU experiences, special needs parenting, medical challenges, or life that looks different than they imagined.
My hope is that through honest storytelling and shared experience, other moms feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
