A reflection on fear, guilt, identity, hope, and learning to live in the unknown while raising children whose futures were never guaranteed.

The Interval is my upcoming memoir about extreme prematurity, motherhood, resilience, and the long stretch of uncertainty that can exist between crisis and healing.

What began as an attempt to process and preserve our experience eventually became something much deeper — a reflection on fear, guilt, identity, hope, and learning to live in the unknown while raising children whose futures were never guaranteed.

At the center of the story are my twins, Evan and Brielle, who were born seventeen days apart at just 23 weeks gestation. But beyond the rarity of interval twins, this book is ultimately about motherhood in all its unexpected forms — the grief, resilience, uncertainty, and quiet strength that can grow through difficult seasons.

For years, I felt called to write this story down. Not because I believe our experience is more important than anyone else’s, but because I know how isolating motherhood can feel when life unfolds differently than expected.

My hope is that somewhere in these pages, another parent feels seen, understood, and a little less alone.

The Interval is currently in progress.
