Hi, I’m Alyssa.
I’m a wife, mom, dentist, writer, and advocate living in rural Minnesota with my husband, Scott, and our twins, Evan and Brielle.
Our family’s story changed unexpectedly when the twins were born seventeen days apart at just 23 weeks gestation. What followed was a long journey through the NICU, medical uncertainty, special needs parenting, and learning how to navigate a version of motherhood that looked very different than the one I originally imagined.
Over the years, I found myself continually returning to the idea of writing our story down — not only to process what we had experienced, but to create connection for other moms walking through difficult and uncertain seasons of motherhood.
What began as a deeply personal story eventually became The Interval and the foundation for Interval Twins.
Outside of writing and advocacy work, I continue to practice dentistry and spend most of my time with my family. I’m passionate about honest storytelling, supporting moms who feel unseen in difficult seasons, and helping create more awareness around the emotional realities of the NICU and special needs parenting.
My hope is that through sharing our experience honestly, other families feel a little less alone in theirs.
